OSC-NL National OS Week 2026

The Dutch Network of Open Science Communities (OSC-NL) is organizing a National Open Science Week from 14 to 18 September 2026  to celebrate and recognize the crucial role of Open Science in the advancement of science. The OSCT also participates in this week by (co-)organizing various events at the University of Twente and at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences during this week.

12:30 - 13:30: Discover the Meet-o-theek (measuring library): citizen science in practice
Location: Design Lab
Abstract:
How can citizens conduct research into their own living environment? And how can researchers, students and societal partners work together to create knowledge?
In this event, we will demonstrate the Meet-o-theek at DesignLab. Soon, residents will be able to borrow measuring equipment through libraries across Twente and use it to collect their own data on topics such as air quality, noise, temperature, water or biodiversity.
The Meet-o-theek is a great example of citizen science in practice: research starts with questions from society, and citizens actively contribute to collecting and interpreting data.
This event is particularly interesting for UT staff and students who are curious about citizen science, participatory research and new ways of connecting science with society.
Come and try out the measuring equipment yourself! Get hands-on with some of the sensors and discover how they can be used for citizen science projects.

Wednesday (16-09)

11:00 - 13:00: Code Cafe: Hands-on session on reproducibility

Abstract:
This will be a CAFE hands-on session on computational reproducibility. During this Code CAFE, participants will have a safe space to discuss and practice the skills to deliver reproducible repos and learn how to prepare their code for a CODECHECK. At the end of the CAFE, we will announce a CODECHECK call to encourage participants to submit their repo and earn a CODECHECK badge.
